the blue gel coat on my Rinker has faded badly, and having just got a winter berth in Exmouth marina I would like to tidy her up a bit. Has anyone tried Y10 applied with a paint brush and then washed off? Any other suggestions welcomed!

Funnily enough I spent many a happy hour in Exmouth doing exactly what you're looking to do to my old Channel Islands 22, and with a fair degree of success.

My method would be to use Farecla G10 (lots of people recommend G3 but I think that's too coarse). G10 is a liquid and I applied it to a sponge type attachment to a drill. Keep the sponge nice and damp and take care not to spend too long on one area otherwise there's the danger of "baking" it on. Once you've done all the area required wipe off the residue and then put on any polish you choose to use. I always used Mer as it was easy to apply and gave good results but there are plenty of alternatives out there.

Using this method it took me a morning to do the whole hull of my old 22 footer and the results were always impressive.

Y10 is to remove stains but won't restore faded colours. You can buy Farecla G10 from any good motor factors. Don't be tempted to go for a lower number as it will be harsher and will therefore take off more of the surface. I'm still around Exmouth quite often so send me a PM if you want any help.

yep as others have said Y10 is for stain removing eg rust, exhaust etc
Y10 = whiten - get it !!
