Have spent some of today 'fabsiling' our stakpak and sprayhood. After they and the sails have been laundered this winter. Should I also fabsil the leeech of the self furling genoa? When it went off to be cleaned I was advised that the UV strip didn't need doing.

Thanks - no I do mean the leech. When the genoa is furled - this is the part that is exposed to the elements. I wondered if waterprrofing it with fabsil, might just stop any rain penetrating through and prevent potentail for mould growth?

Never heard of fabsil, is it a waterproofing stuff and how do you apply it? Is it clear? Is it UV resistant? Need to waterproof some of my sail, hatch covers.

Have a mooch around this site;

Fabsil can be applied by aerosol or brush,secret is to make sure item to be proofed is clean(they sell a cleaning liquid for this purpose).

Have used it with pretty good results on flysheets and Ruc-sacs.
It does claim to offer UV protection.

For clothing I prefer Nik Wax products.
