The pipework to and from the holding tank doesnt make sense to me :o .
From the toilet to a two way valve - one way to a seacock and the other way to the tank is simple enough ,

Inlet to tank is at bottom of photo and outlet to deck pump out is at top ,

but the pipe to the hand pump -

is connected to the deck pump out pipe with a Y piece wich seems to point in the wrong direction ,

.
I was going to fit a macerator pump , but as the existing set up doesnt seem right and to be honest there is a bit of a pong in that area , does anyone think it would make sense to just rip it all out and start again .
Apart from this problem the boat is great , ran faultlessly from brixham to lymington , 23 knots at 3500rpm and cant beleive how much space we have to lounge around in now .

I would keep it simple.

On the toilet side you can leave as is if you wish straight out or into the the thank. I prefer it all to go straight to the tank but that is my choice.

On the tank outlet fit a T connector instead of the Y. Then install masarator to pump out to sea and do away with the manual pump. Your boat may have the cables and switches in place all ready.

Also check the tank has no leaks as that type of tank has been known to fail.

That sounds like a good set up , have seen on TEK TANKS web site that they make the tank for the F37 so i may be able to fit one of those . Can anyone recomend the best macerator pump for this kind of installation .

Standard one from the chandlery will be fine.

I noted that on one of sea cocks there seems to be a rust trail. If it is leaking it would be good practice to replace it ASAP.

That tank and set-up is almost identical to ours on the F37, but... Where you have that strange Y piece, ours just goes straight up to the pump out deck fitting. We then have a second tank outlet with it's own pickup pipe for the macerator right next to the one at the top next to the breather. Should you wish, there's room to fit a 100 litre bladder tank inboard of the holding tank (so it would be just to the left, out of shot, of the manual pump) to use for freshwater flushing, which will deffo sort out the pong.

Hi there we have a s360 and we had that pong in the hole under the galley floor its the rubber seal on the hand pump, all we have done to fix this is to remove the hand pump and isolate the tank by conecting some of the pipes together with a joiners avalable from most chandlers, and reconected the toilet pipe to the seacock thus eliminating the need to pump the tank out and the smell , i know some of you out there might not agree with pumping your toilet into the the sea or marinas ,but as far as im concerned thats why they call it a sea toilet. this is asuming you keep it on the coast and not on inland waterways. if you keep the tank in the boat you can always swop it back if you sold the boat later.

Hi Mad Boater , thanks for that info . SWMBO said that the pong was strongest under the galley floor , ( her nose is bigger than mine ;) ) i will try swapping the hand pump for a macerator as a first step and if that plan fails i will change the tank as well .

OK, here's what we have:

The flush tank is a Plastimo 100l bladder: http://www.force4.co.uk/773/Plastimo--100-litres-Water-Tank.html and there is a second skin fitting on deck next to the pump out to fill it. We put pink tank freshener from the caravan shop in the flush tank, and loo blue down the heads after every pump out to keep the holding tank sweet.

If we run out of flush water, opening the seacock allows us to flush with seawater, while the one way valve stops it getting in to the bladder tank. Normally, all the seacocks are closed, except when we need to pump out. The standard holding tank is approx 100-120 litres, so we refill the flush tank after every pump out, and the macerator takes approx 5 minutes to empty the tank.

Nope, just pushed it in through the gap between the top of the tank and the bottom of the floor, then poked and prodded it into place with a stick. The biggest hassle was running the fill hose in, to be honest. If you want details, PM me...

I meant to add... At Haydn (hlb)'s suggestion, chuck a load of pet deodoriser in the bilges to get rid of any residual whiffs. I'd be tempted to chuck a couple of bottles around everywhere, and spray the hoses as well. If all else fails, you're going to have to replace the hoses. Not hugely expensive, but a bit of a fiddle.
