Fĺèxòfold

My two-bladed Flexofold shaft-mounted propeller has no provision for an anode. I use a ring anode on the shaft instead.
That is because it does not need an anode for the prop. I had one on a saildrive for 10 years without an anode. On a shaft drive you should not need one either.

Thanks everyone I calied to day and yes Tranona and thelassa are correct.
I wanted to buy one before getting hauled out in case I needed one , as it happen I don't.
More drinking money.

Sorry about the thread drift - where are you hauling out?

I did the same. Darglow said it was not required but i fitted the shaft anode anyway. Every year I lifted out and i changed the anode for new as it had 3/4 gone. In my simple mind that means it's maybe doing some good and protecting something somewhere. But then again I'm often wrong. :)

Don't be so hard on yourself.

If you are right this time, which I would agree with, then maybe you are right more often than you think - be optimistic, life has been hard enough already for there last months for some without the need for pessimism.

And a bit more thread drift. I had noted your absence Vic and was getting twitchy - so glad to see you back (and healthy if you are to haul out). How is the eye?

A zinc anode coupled to a prop made of any of the common bronzes used for propellers will erode whether it is doing anything useful or not.
The two form a galvanic cell with about 0.7 to 0.8 volts between them. The more anodic, zinc in this case, will erode.

Jonathan it's a very long story ,there two parts to it,
Just quickly I needed a break from YBW too many back stabing , arguing and people like school kids running to the Mods .
Although I never stop answering PM to people wanting info on cruising.

The second part is more complicated, as you know we been long time cruisers/liveaboard , on the spare of the moment we decided we test the market and within 2 weeks we had buyers .
The plain was to return to land life and maybe buy a smaller boat next year, within 4 weeks of being back ( go on take guess) yes we back on board on a smaller boat leaving the UK again for the Netherlands.
Although living full time in Northern Europe some how I don't think it's going to happen.

Obviously your eye must have mended as you make no mention.

Its a forum, most of those who transgress are shown the error of their ways and knuckle under, or leave. I have noted some positive changes - though I still note some boorish behaviour - but not so much I'd complain.

I confess the idea of living on any yacht, smaller or not, in 'Northern' Europe is not something I would relish - unless I had sensible of heating both the yacht interior and water. With these amenities secured I would feel more confident. But I am a self confessed wimp and like my creature comforts (and more importantly the company and support of my wife).

However - glad you are still around and pleased you have a new chapter to look forward to.

If I can offer any support or help - drop me a PM

Best wishes
