Perfectly true. I only know that I take few chances and have had few problems.
If from my early sailing days, I'd had a selection of safety-nets, would I have taken more chances? Certainly.
I think resourcefulness can take the form of circumspection, astutely recognising and avoiding potential problems, extrication from which might need outside help.
I'd be sorry to have learned that it's better to take imprudent chances because I could always call for help if it all went wrong.
