A boat I'm considering is fitted with a C80, DSM module and radar which all works fine.
I'm thinking I would supplement it with something like an A78.
The Raymarine website was a bit ambiguous on a couple of questions so I'm hoping there will be someone already using the A series on the forum.

1. Does the A78 has the self-same fishfinder & downvision as the standalone Dragonfly models?
2. Will it work with the RayControl app to let me view and control it over wi-fi from an Android tablet app?

I have in mind I can leave the C80 as the plotter/radar and use the A78 fishfinder in the cockpit of the boat via an Android tablet.

Will that work?

Hi I currently have an A78 installed on my boat I believe the fish finder/sonar is the same as the dragonfly model
and yes you will be able to control it with the raycontrol app just make sure the model you buy has wifi as not all A series MFD's have wifi built in
I use mine on the flybridge and have a A97 down below on which the screen size makes it an easier unit to use and view.

Sorry, more questions :)

Ah, interesting, so you find the 9in model screen real estate noticeable over the 7in one?

I think the A78 (or A98) do have the wifi option built in?

Do you think the smaller screen size will be a handicap when I'll have the separate C80 as a plotter and I'll be viewing the fishfinder often on a 10" tablet?

You would be ok viewing on a tablet I generally use both units on a split screen ie plotter/radar and much prefer the 9" for that but the downside is it costs significantly more
cracking pieces of kit but!
