Grateful for any opinions and experience from anyone who has stored a boat at Port Inland, Bay of Cannes?

Port Inland : 1er port à sec d'Europe Mandelieu La Napoule Var

We have a 7.5m rib which is currently based in Abersoch. We're after more certainty over the weather when using the boat and would prefer to trailer store or dry stack (as in this case) rather than leave the boat in the water. Flights from Manchester to Nice are fairly frequent with journey not too dissimilar to the drive to Abersoch.

This seems the best option so far but open to other options in the area within reasonable distance of Nice airport. I'll fly down in March to check it out in person before bring the boat down in April/May time.

Anywhere obvious that I've missed? Many thanks

I don’t have any direct experience, but we do keep our boat on the Côte d’Azur. We also know people who fly from Manchester to Nice, so might be able to help if you have any generic questions.

Two things come to mind

Where will you live when on the Côte d’Azur?

How will you get too and from Nice airport? The train system can be good, but La Napoule is one stop off the main route with most trains stopping at Cannes-La Bocca. A taxi would be ruinous!

Happy to help where I can.

Trains run regularly to la Nap from Cannes .There is a station .Also a cheap regular bus from Hotel d Ville adjacent to the Marina in Cannes . Regular like 20 mins coaches from the arrivals @ NCE to Cannes .
Its easy to get to

We used to hire a car anyhow with family .
Theres also La Rague they do dry stack + Hyster folk lift 8 till 8 in the summer .
I suspect ( unless you have confirmation ) the port inland dry stack is over booked .
Cote d Azur is hugely over populated compare to normal areas in Fr and that population swells in the season .There will be 1000 s just like you .looking for a stack to hold the day boat .....
NCE is frances 2nd busiest airport .Hope you can cope with crowds and Q ,s ?

Alternately you may consider renting or if finances permit buying a small berth under 8 M ? There seems to be a regular turn over ......as folks change boats .
La Nap has the longest concession in the CdA .Expires end of 2019 ......If you buy and end up not using it will rent out in a heartbeat.......such is the demand more so for rib guys .
We own a 15 M berth and currently rent it out .Grosses €17 K pa .nice .

Try and end up in air conditioned accommodation btw .

Also the river flash floods , more so theses days with freaky weather and the river is full of debris ....you know trees , logs 1/2 sunk cars etc .Usual reasons , concrete over development of the natural flood planes up steam no where for the rain to soak in etc exec .

Heres the thing to be considered
You say the Journey to Abersoch is akin to Nice
Even including the ball ache of the A 55 on occasions it aint like faffin about in airport security etc etc
OK, I give in ref the weather
The Bay of Cannes has tons of stuff going for it and you Will get out on a RIB in nice weather more often than North Wales
If all goes well without airport delays an stuff
Its a day either way, wasted however you look at it
mcanderson's imputs are noteworthy too
I see where you are coming from as well Miller
Abersoch is fine and dandy when the weather is fair
But as a Place to 'boat' from?
Pretty restrictive
There are more interseting places in North Wales
I am sure you have worked that out
But the 'Gaurantee' of the Sun on ones back is a dilemma I know
Hard Call Mate

Hi. I kept a Fairey Spearfish and then a Triana Tropica in PI over about a 10 year period. It’s great. No fouling! It’s cheaper than a marina berth. You may have difficulty getting a space as 7m is one of the more popular sizes. Recommend booking an appointment and visiting when next in the area. Francoise was in charge when last there.
Negatives: it’s launch and go, return and recover, in other words no hanging about on the pontoon. If you are coming down for a period and enjoy ‘lounging’ on the boat just pick up a visitor’s mooring in one of the marinas for that period.
They will put you in the ‘cleaning‘ area if you want to clean free of charge. For working on the boat you have to go in the ‘carenage’ which is paid. You don’t phone ahead for anything just turn up and they plonk you in. It’s a real conveyor belt in the summer but more relaxed outside July & August. We bought a bigger boat and can no longer fit in there and are now a berth holder in La Rague.
