Hi All, I want to fit an expansion tank to my water system to reduce the banging when the water is turned off. I do not have a lot of space but I have found an accumulator on the net for £20.
Is it possible to fit two close together to increase the expansion volume. The idea being that the pump would then not turn on as often. Or I am talking through my backside.

I can't think of a reason why it would not work. There is a risk that they might fight against each other but probably worth a try at £20.

My last camper van had a water system very similar to a boat's, with a pressure pump, galley and heads hot and cold, etc. It had a very small plastic accumulator which controlled everything well. So maybe one would be enough?

Absolutely no reason not to, in facct I do so sometimes in wet heating systems where there is limited space as they can be spaced where convenient, the important thing is to balance the pressures in them quite closely and also in harmony with the pump pressure.

Each accumulator adds it's capacity to the system so 2 gives double what 1 would and so on. Also they can effectively be anywhere on the line though they tend to be near the pump or calorifier output

I have fitted two (only because I had one spare), and it does give a bit more leeway in not having the pump cut in so often.

These were the black accumulators with no inside diaphragm. I "balanced" them by draining the water from both, before putting the pump back on.

No problems.
