In replacing the corroded exhaust injection bend on a Sabb 2J, I have obtained a stainless threaded flange together with an elbow and a straight with male and female threaded ends, these connect to a female thread in a yellow metal water injection hose fitting.

The problem is that back nuts are not possible on all joints, and the position and angle of the bends are critical for the whole thing to fit.

Is there any compound I can use that will seal the thread and lock the fitting at the correct angle in this dry section of the exhaust, and yet be undoable in the future.

Deep brass nuts seem to work very well for future removal on exhaust manifolds, without sealant but I'm sure there is a suitable sealant for this purpouse, there seems tp be one for about every special need.

Ordinary Silicone Instant Gasket worked OK on Joey Dunlop's TT bikes.

His 250 and 350 Yamaha's often had evidence of its use around the exhaust ports which were simple deep push fits pulled into the cylinder's exhaust port with extension springs.

If it worked OK for the most sucessfull TT rider ever it should be fine on a low tempreture diesel.

Seal the thread by smearing it on both components and apply a thick-6-7mm-bead along both components and leave untill dry before starting the motor.

When the Instant Gasket has stuck to both surfaces you will be amazed how strong and resilient it is.

Thanks for the suggestions, I had thought of fire cement but silicone seems a better solution, if its good enough for Joey....ect.
