My Volvo TAMD72 engines are connected to hydro hush silencers. Recently we have noticed that at over about 2300Rpm our exhaust becomes white in colour, i think it may be steam but i am not sure if it is steam or white smoke, it diffuses quickly and does not smell. Could it be that the water flow through the engine is not as great as it should be and therefore water is being vaporised as it passes through the exhaust?
Does anyone have any ideas on the problem?

Get it checked out it maybe that the impellers are worn or the cams in the pumps, also check out intake pipes from sea cock, they may have collapsed restricing flow, also coolers on engines may have blocked tubes, white smoke is unburnt fuel due to incorrect pump timing, do they make 2600 rpm flat out?, also if an intercooler has a leaking tube it may be sucking a small amount of sea water into the engine and burning it, if it then this is very dangerous to the engine and serious damage will result, tell me what make of boat these engines are in I may be able to help more.
