Exhaust elbow

I am fitting a Penta D1-20, plus an antisiphon valve as the installation is fairly low. Would this be adequate or would a high rise elbow, as well as the valve, be worthwhile?
 
What colour are your eyes ?

That is as relavant as the information given get the installation drawings and check don't guess or it could be expensive.

I would tend to follow the same layout as the original engine assuming that one was installed by the original builders as one would assume they had got it sorted.

However I would also talk to the guys at Kip who took over from McDonalds unless of course you have bought the engine from elsewhere.

They do two different jobs. The antisyphon valve is to break the syphon in the seawater cooling circuit. The high rise exhaust is for use when the engine is well below the waterline and there is a danger of water coming back up the exhaust pipe. In most installations a water trap immediately after the exhaust outlet and as low as possible, plus a swan neck as high as possible in the exhaust line just before the outlet is sufficient.
