I was building a exhaust alarm for a raw water cooled manifold so the first thing needed was a buzzer, purchase one online from reputable marine souse after a thew tests about 20 sec each the buzzer gave up, stripped the buzzer down to find a transistor add blown, this part of the build should be bullet proof, now coming to my dilemma I can find what I think is the right buzzer just cant find out how to purchase one nearer , any help would be much appreciated

similar buzzers available from Maplin - or i usually use Rapid electronics. Had a quick look and similar spec but lower frequency. Less than a quid

I use a relay if I need a reliable buzzer, just wire it so that it interrupts is own power when the coil is energised.

I use a car horn, plus the sender from the bottom of a car radiator (that nomally operates the electric fan) to create the sensor/activator. Both mega robust and next to nothing at the scrappies. The horn catches your attention far quicker than a buzzer - believe me.

Cheers the maplin one looks ok don’t think the horn would go down well seeing as I wired the the buzzer to sound every time the ignition was turned on
