This is purely theoretical at the moment, but it *might* be that i need a sudden excuse for not going boating. You know the sort of thing that triggers this - at the last minute fifteen other people are going to cram into the same boat , or the weather forecast changes from "quite nice" to "minus 25 degrees" and the heater doesn't work, or the skipper decides on some crackpottily unfeasible passage plan, or announces that the most impiortant task is to clean the holding tank. That sort of thing.

All potential excuses very welcome, especially tried and tested variety, ta.

You have developped a colonic inflamation caused by a bacteria which causes your wind to smell worse than GWBs foreign affairs record and you feel it best to be where other people are not.

I guess you're after something that is "obviously" more important than boating that you have no control over. Illness in the family is an old one, but difficult to fake without co-operation from the alleged patient. Attending the funeral of a distant but well-loved relative is another, but you have to make sure you haven't alread used up your granny allowance with your erstwhile companions on previous voyages.
A major disaster on board your own vessel, requiring your immediate attention might work, you know, a sudden call from the boatyard on a Friday to say she's listing heavily, but not to worry as they've got the pumps on board and running but you might want to take a look, that sort of thing.

Your SWMBO has seen a fantastic old rectory which is being auctioned tomorrow , and she wants to bid for it. She doesn't think it is worth bothering with a structural survey and thinks the way the walls bulge is really cute.

That should do the trick.

Sudden colapse in boat price shock!!!!

Given the deals on Fairline at the moment, I wouldn't want to be shifting anything British in the 20m range.

Customer of mine is negotiating over one of several Fairlines that BA Peters is committed to shift.

Saving of £1/3M have been mentioned.

wonderful weather

yes, you're right, i can't complain there. Apparently it only chucks it down on one of the three days according to the forecast. It's hardly likley to be that good, really, is it?
