Daphne and I went on Saturday 12th Jan. Plenty of visitors but not too crowded. Most of the boat manufacturers and gizmo makers present. Big holiday section.
Most important of all: much more casual seating and refreshment outlets than we remembered from previous Excel and certainly Earls Court (did not attend latter this time)

Put firmly in my place when I endeavoured to have a close up external of a Nauticat. "There are many people waiting you know" Didnt bother and wont.

I was there on Saturday, too. Good to see some smaller stalls there, as well as the big companies. I thought that the anchor demo was good - that and the stage in the hall helped give a bit more atmosphere than in the earlier Excel shows.

Overall, I thought that it was worth a visit.

And I don't blame you. Manufacturers can impress (or fail to) in the first 10 seconds.
Two companies whose stands I visited stood out for me - Rotostay and Barden. Spoke to both asking for advice, and they were both extremely helpful, even though it was obvious from the outset that I wasn't actually buying there and then. But I probably will do in the future, as a direct result of their 'we're here to help' attitude.

Went on Monday - was very impressed with Betamarine - makes me think that all I'd get get with Volvo would be green paint /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

went with my son on friday and wouldnt go back some of the stall holders had a terible atitude doe to having press parties
although we bout a few bits and bobs some stals were very helpfull

This was a make-or-break visit for me. Better than the first few shows, but unless I've nothing better to do next Jan. or bought a new boat and needs lots of gear, I won't bother again. It was pretty boring really. Many of us hark back to the old original Earls Court show, but that was FUN!! I'd often go for a second day...meet old friends, go to the lectures, etc, etc,...it was more than just a trade show. That's all gone now, and probably the nature of the industry is now so different, it'll never come back in that form. Pity...

Nauticat 331 was the highlight of the day for me and they were very accomodating. Wonderful little ship that I've long admired from afar and now loved closed up. If there was ever an inspiration to buckle down and get some overtime in ... /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
