I have obtained an Eberspacher D2 that came from a BT transit van. It all works fine, but will only run for 1 hour. I have been informed this is standard with the ex BT units but with so many ending up in boats, someone must have managed to sort the electrics out so that it runs continuous.

Any ideas or sugestions????

Cheers

Thnaks for that. Just looked at that thread but it is different. The old D1LC had a separate box to control the 1 hour limit. The newer D2's came with a 7 day timer and no separate black box.

I think the issue might be in the timer control itself but was wondering if anyone has found a way around it.

Cheers

Thanks for that. I have that manual and saw those instructions, but when followed, they don't work. I think this is because the ones fited to BT vans were designed to only ever work for one hour.

It is possible, I will have to get a new control unit if I want to run it continuous but was hoping someone could confirm this first.

Cheers

I think "skipper_stu" of these forums is an expert on Eberspachers, he often sells bits. If you look on the "for sale" forum you will be able to ask him via a PM if he does not notice your question.

[/ QUOTE ]Did you make sure the heater was OFF before trying to reset the timer?

Timer can be switched off completely - follow the instructions for manual start-up (heater must be on and running for this function)

Fit an over-ride switch as the timer installed in vans will only run for one hour. ( enough to warm the van on a frosty morning but not to flatten your battery.
Cut into the red timer lead and take a red lead from this to the outer terminal of a 3 way switch, take the yellow lead from the heater and take that to the centre terminal on the 3 way switch, take the yellow lead which goes to the timer and fit this to the other outer terminal.
Result should be that with the switch one way the timer works as normal, with the switch the other way the on/off contact via the yellow lead is done in the switch but the heat setting remains useable on the timer.
Hope this helps.
