Ever bought a new boat, regretted it, and then kept the old one (asking for a friend)

A friend of mine, who has the propensity to be a bit of an idiot, always hankered after a bigger boat. He bought one recently and was very happy with it. The trouble is, he can't sell the old one right at the minute and finds himself looking back at the smaller boat, thinking about all the fun they had together, and is now having second thoughts about selling her.

Does that sounds familiar to anyone? Has anyone else done anything similar?

I have a similar situation. I have small 21 ft motorsailer which I totally renovated, put a ford escort engine in, fitted a SH mast with new sails and have used the boat over the last 20 years. Last May I came across an LM28 up for sale at £5000 which I bought on the spot and had it trucked down nearer to my home. Kept the wee boat in the water and used it during 2019 while we refurbished the LM. Whilst the plan was to sell the wee boat we have decided that when the LM28 is launched, the wee boat will be trucked back to our garden and mothballed but maintained in good condition in case we find the LM a bit too much in our declining years (75 at moment) and we decide to sell the LM and tevert back to our wee boat.
