Changed my hard drive for a solid state a while ago and the Boot Log time in Event Viewer came down from about 4-5 minutes to 1-2 minutes, so an improvement of magnitude.

However, every now and then, I find I'm sitting waiting for Windows to open completely, (including connecting to Wifi, loading Anti Virus, the task bar along the bottom of the screen), such that I can use it, and it can take 5 minutes or more...

So what is Boot Log measuring to?

Could be almost anything really, and most probably just an event tacked onto the exit of a significant sub-system the UI for instance.
The trouble is everything after BIOS is multi-threaded and actual boot sequence is undefined, sometimes it can get in a bit of a tiz and take longer than normal.
