'Had a good run out with the lads from work tonight and Rob, our developer from the UK, We thought about going across to Sark but I was bit unsure about the weather later.

So we pottered around the west coast of Sark then came back to Herm for a bar supper. two of us 'mature' gents thrashed the young'uns at table footie in the Mermaid, - maybe I should have told them that Rob has a table in his games room at home - then again maybe not /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

As it happened it was flat calm on the way back so we had a very pleasant run back in the dark, I really like being out on the sea at night.

Regards

That’s the good thing about coming back from Herm, no pots in that channel ever.

yes, the only thing was that I did a left turn up towards St Martins, boy was it dark then! You can see the swell (not that there was much) from the lights reflecting off the tops when heading in, as soon as I turned away I couldn't see a thing, 'fun tho'

When it gets dark I use the silhouette of Victoria tower over the light on the harbour masters office. As a ref. Also if you look to the left of the castle you can see a row of lights by the bathing pools, to the right of that is the castle so by aiming towards the dark patch to the right of the lights you know you are on the right course. When you get closer to the castle you can see the light quite clearly on the pier. This is a good ref if coming from Sark or Jersey at dusk/night time so you know you are heading straight for SPP.

It wasn't so much the navigation, I'm quite happy finding my way around (most of the time!) but reading the water, it was really very dark and with the nav lights on I couldn't see anything beyond the bow. As I said great fun tho'
