Trailing to France this year and trying to get info on any company that offers european trailer breakdown cover for our size trailer.
After wheel bearing went yesterday and although we had a spare repair took a while with complications cover seems a very good idea if we can get it.
Trailer carries Sealine 218 so after reading through some companies restrictions on length/weight etc of boat and trailer not having much luck finding a company .
Also car is 16 years old so also don't need age restrctions on vehicle!! just to make it extra difficult
Any info gratefully received

This looks like it will do the job as well. No mention of any age, size or weight restrictions in the policy wording
http://www.morethan.com/bin/bladerunner?...VERTISER=online

"your car" means the car whose details have been reported to and accepted by us,
and whose registration number is shown in the Schedule. It also includes any
caravan or trailer that has been properly built to be towed by your car when
attached by a 50 millimetre ball coupling."

Have you tried the RAC ? They do Euro cover in two groups, Eurozone and east Europe. Superb service for about £100 a year..unlimited trips, full recovery if required, hire car while yours repaired, accomodation etc.etc..

Is the trailer less than 8 metres? If it is than Britania Rescue will cover it, if you go for Dulux cover then you get European cover + Hire car if required, have been very impressed 6:30pm on a Bank Holiday and they managed to get a car to me at my home address! Have used them a few times and alway's found them to be very good!!

Cost is £71 for the year if your a CSMA memeber which costs £18 (PM me and I can give you details to join!) and you'll get a magazine once a month which sometimes has good offers like cheap ferry crossings/holiday's discounts on car services/mot's and a few other discounts (10% off DABS.com I think is one of them)

If your trailer is over 8m long all you have to do is get them to agree before commencing the policy which probably wouldn't be that hard!!

all gets abit puzzling on "length". The law measures excluding the A frame. On a caravan, thats fairly obvious-its the bit in front of tha van itself that tapers towards the hitch. Applying the same to a boat trailer suggests your A frame starts about a third of the way down the trailer! Anyway, i think as long as the recovery vehicle knows theres a boat trailer, he isnt going to get out a tape measure. Those tow trucks are massive anyway....

Thanks for all the replies, will start ringing around tomorrow.
Just had remeasure of trailer/boat etc and looks like we can come in just under all height width and length restrictions, even measuring the length from the back of the bathing platform to the ball hitch, overall length and travelling with tonneau cover on and radar arch folded down!

You're OK if your tow vehicle is 3,500kgs GVW, if not your too wide and too long as well as probably overweight. Well, your not overweight you understand, your rig is!

The max width in France is 2.5mtrs and the max lenght of boat/trailer is 12mtrs. The Sealine is within both of these. Officially, in France the max weight of boat and trailer is the kerbweight of the car, but as even a Range Rover type car only weighs around 2000kgs I can't imagine they stick to this. I would say that as long as the car has a plated towing capacity equal to or more than the weight of the tow (as in UK law) it would be ok. Many people have towed 3 ton boats behind large 4x4's through France and I have never heard of a problem although if it ended up in court after an accident, who knows!!!!
