I haven't sailed one but undertand that they are great little boats. Being an Etap they are unsinkable. Should be quick. One has sailed the Atlantic
Hope this helps
I used to have one and they are very good. Underrated in the sense that they are very good on storage bearing in mind 2 CU M of foam incorporated. I sailed mine to Greece single handed and lived on it for months on end.
I am not so sure that they are racers. They do not stand to their sails very well needing a reef in a three to go well but will also go well in a one! Their normal max. speed conforms to the hull speed rule but under that will travel at about 50 % of the wind speed with 20 YO sails.
Lots to look at with regard to keel, structural weaknesses because of the light skin and corrosion but no osmosis problems heard of.
Started of with an 22' Etap , progressed to a 26' sailed it for 10 years - fabulous boat - safe warm - very flexible with lifting keel - never ever heard of an Etap with osmosis. Higher freeboard because of unsinkability (1cm for every Foot in length approx.) this is to give stability if flooded so as it "sails"!!. Agree with all is said on other thread - but to explain the point on reefing early - the high freeboard make one tend to forget that if the rails are in the water any other boat might be broaching. Hope that makes sense. Anyway progressed to a 30' as the family got bigger and was aspiring to a 35'Etap but too expensive.
I am thinking of buying an Etap 30. Can you tell me what they are like to handle under sale. I am planning on doing a bit of short handed sailing and possibly one or 2 longer trips.
Any info prices would be gratefully received as there does not seem to be much info about.
