Hi

Does anyone know where i can still get spares for my Etap 23, both my window gasket are starting to perish on port and starboard side. I would like to replace them with the correct part but failing that i could make some up myself if needed be.

They don't really sell spares for boats in the same way as they sell spares for cars but if you are able to source them from the manufacturer chances are you'll pay a very silly price for what you get.I would suggest if they're not leaking leave them alone, if they are, remove them and rebed with butyl tape, or adhesive sealant - there are numerous ways to remove and refit boat windows depending on what type they are, lots of threads on these forums covering it if you do a search...

I reseated my new cabin windows on a Butyl sealant from a mainly construction industry outfit, Dortech - they're extremely helpful and you'd be pleasantly surprised if not amazed by the prices when ' marine ' isn't in the title !

Think the butyl sealant I used was called something like Arbo, Arbotech ?

It's super sticky and never completely sets, which is the idea; mind one has to be careful with it, I found I very nearly tarred and feathered myself :)

If you like the sound of it and can't find it by the clues above I'll try to look back through a zillion e-mails, though Dortech to keep up regular news of products and offers.

Is this it?
Arbomast BR Butyl Arbo Mast Sealant - Grey 380ml: Amazon.co.uk: Sports & Outdoors
I imagine it may also come in a white rather than grey.

If going for Arbo google Dortech, they charge a fraction the price of chandleries - not sure how Amazon compare but I was surprised how much cheaper they are, a good firm to deal with too.

This is the sealant that Houdini recommend for bedding in their hatches, I agree with Seajet, you have to be very careful with it as it seems to have an even greater capacity than silicon sealant to go everywhere except where you intend.
