Contemplating a week, probably Tollersbury and the Deben, next summer.

From those that use that bit of coast, what is the best time to go to avoid excessive wind (external not internal !!)

Have been twice before and NE wind seemed virtually permanent.
Talking to a chap from Lowestoft who said when the NE wind stops the SW wind starts.
What no break at all?

Done that bit several times - Lowestoft, Southwold, Deben, Orwell, Walton Backwaters, Blackwater and Crouch - Done it in June, July, August and September.
Didn't make any difference to the weather - had some scorching flat calm days and also been holed up waiting for a window on every occassion.
You pays yer money..........

Mike, I been that way a eleventytwo times and if the weather's right the weather's right. It's the same as going in any direction you pick your weather, I mean who in their right mind goes down the Thames Estuary on an ebb tide with a North Easterly greater than the top end of a 4 ? (bar Syd)
PS. See you at the AGM

Well winter projects are............Get rid of gigantic water tank...change out for one half the size. This will give me room to fit holding tank. Then look at swapping out old Ford Consul engine & manual Wortham-Blake box for a 1.5 BMC & Borg Warner hydraulic box. Then it's a rub down & paint on the Cabin and hey presto. Sell it for way more than I paid and move onwards & upwards. At least that's the plan. Still really she's a lovely old girl which Forbsie liked as well and ideal for the Broads.

'Blue Mist....pissed' or Blue Mist should have changed to Scotch Mist except there's one around here already.

Great birthday cake too!

Thoroughly enjoyed George's hospitality in Suffolk and a trip out on Blue Mist. I'm trying to copy some of the designs and ideas from his boat once the Thames calms down and I can get out to mine.

Thanks Forbsie. I'll give you the £5 next time I see you. BTW I went to all that trouble to paint the damn thing so's I could have a reason to change the name, not so's everyone could keep calling it the same damn thing. It's 'Mayfly' not 'Blu Mist@. How much more bad luck do you want me to suffer.....lol

my boats WHO she says she is.....
