As usual the busiest man on the Esper refit project is Pong, the head carpenter. He's been assisted by his sons in finishing off the new teak toe rail and the teak rubbing strake down the side of the boat. Sombat, meanwhile, cracks on with the electrics.

Here's the new teak toe rail offered up to the edge of the deck and the slopes, lines, end pencilled in before routing.

And this is the final effect we're looking for. Liz has signed this off and the routing will be done once the rail is fixed in place.

The rail is secured with 3M adhesive and bolted down.

Here's a little peek at both the toe rail and the rubbing strake, which has also been fitted.

We're also fitting some new navigation equipment, including an 8" touch screen plotter at the binnacle. Here's the template for the box, which will be shaped and eventually sprayed in the same Awlcraft as the deck.

Excellent. The stainless rod let into the rubbing strakes is new to me, very neat.

Yes, it's a nice touch. It was always part of the rubbing strake's design, so we've simply replaced the outer strip of teak, polished the rods and used new bolts to secure it back in place.
