The hull’s osmosis treatment is almost complete as the double layer of biaxial is applied. Pong’s finishing up on the woodwork and the painters are covering Esper in a spider’s web in preparation for her top coat.
First, some fun with some coloured laminate...
Purple laminate in the heads. Why? Why not?
More orange laminate in the galley. Why? Because the carpenters didn't listen and went ahead and put it there. Still, we like it, so it's staying!
More fun with the veneer. One of the problems with opting to go horizontal on the veneer pattern is curved corners. The veneer doesn't bend that much. Here's a problem corner...
And here's the veneer applied vertically on that corner. It doesn't look too bad.
Here's another example of contrasting veneers. On the top is a curved corner that inclines upwards. Strips of veneer were applied with the vertical sloping. To the left is straight vertical. Then it's normal horizontal underneath.
The painters spent two days preparing the boat for the top sides respray. They covered the boat in a latice work of string, and then covered it with clingfilm.
Meanwhile the lads underneath started to apply the biaxial to the hull as part of the osmosis treatment.
And finally, by royal decree, a talking cat responds to Cleopatra: http://followtheboat.com/2014/06/08/esper-refit-week-18
