Eric White of Marcon Yachts R.I.P.

Eric White, owner of Marcon yachts, builder of the Trident 24, and her big sisters the Marcon Sabre, Tomahawk and several other larger boats, passed away peacefully in his sleep on 29th June, aged 91. He left a legacy of tough, well built boats many of which are still sailing. The first Trident, No 1 is still going strong and winning most of her races. Eric was a real professional whose memory will live on in the boats he built, for many years to come. Our sincere condolences go to his family in their sad loss.

sad news; I have the brochures for quite a few Marcon boats, as I fancied them being a youngster during their heyday.

I got very close to completing a Trident 35 with a chum...

Halberdier 36, Rival 32, Claymore 30, Javelin 30, Sabre 27, Cutlass 27, Tomahawk 25, Trident 24, Striker 22.

Quite a legacy. He also did work for others i.e. Moody and Camper & Nicholson.

Where British motorcycles where more or less wiped out after about 15 years from the Japanese invasion, his boats live on and
will probably be about for many years to come.

I've not heard of Mr Moss, please tell me / us more !

I'd love to think there is still someone around who can tell the pointy end from the other...same goes with aeroplanes and accountants, sadly !

David Moss is a very fine boatbuilder in Fleetwood.

He builds his own, exquisite, canoe yawls, using modern strip plank methods, and can undertake refits and rebuilds of boats built with traditional plank on frame construction.
