Hi,

Just doing some GRP repairs on the hull and found what looks like a very thick layer of hard coating. It a lime-green colour, much thicker than gel-coat and rather shiny, and is lurking under the anti-fouling.

I assume it is an Epoxy treatment by previous owners, would I be correct?

Yes - as already said - almost certainly Gelshield 200. It comes in bright green & grey - the idea being that you put on alternate colours so you get good coverage. Recommended dose is 6 coats in all - 3 of each colour.

If you are going to antifoul over it, you will need to apply a primer first. Antifoul does not adhere to cured Gelshield.
