I have a 23ft boat (Hunter Duette) and have just removed the existing antifoul back to mostly gellcoat as it was in very poor condition, flaking off in big lumps. In doing so I have also removed what looked like an old epoxy coat which was poorly bound and part of the reason the antifoul was coming off. I have just put on 2 coats of Primicon and am antifouling. Didn't bother putting on gellshield layer or similar. Was this a mistake! Do most boats now a days have an epoxy coat of some discription? Should I worry about leaving the boat in for say 2 years with out a chance to dry out ashore now? Before I bought the boat it had been left in for a long period of several years and although there was an epoxy coat it looked in poor condition and the bonding was not good. The gell coat undernearth looks very good. Anyone any thoughts? Boat is on UK East coat in a seawater marina. Any advice gratefully recieved.
