Hi all, I intend to carry out various repairs which consists of using wests epoxy resin and hardener, when glueing two peices of new timber together do you prime both faces of the timber with just resin then allow this to become tacky followed by the final resin and hardener mix and some micro balls to fill any gaps,I think this is correct but would be grateful for your tips and knowledge .many thanks.

You need to make up your epoxy mix then 'wet out' the joint. This saturates the area and prevents the wood sucking the chemicals out of the thickened mixture. Then make the joint.
Go to the West system site. If i remember they have a good on line manual for the stuff.
Have fun.

Yup, as said above, mix your resin and hardener in the correct proportions and use some of it to wet both surfaces to be joined. This 'thin' resin penetrates the wood to provide a bond deeper than just the surface fibres. Now you add the special West System microballons or fibres to thicken the remaining resin. This gives you the gap filling properties. This needs to be applied to just one of the surfaces to be joined. Be careful not to cramp the joint up too tight; epoxy likes a little space to perfom it's magic!
The West website has indeed got all the info.
