Hi. What is the panel's opinion of Epifanes Rapidclear please?

We are about to revarnish our interior woodwork. Most of the teak is well worn and will probably end up back to bare wood, but the veneer is generally quite good and so we intend to just sand that very lightly. I know we should perhaps take everything back to bare wood, but it does seem overkill on the veneer. We just want a good, solid, long lasting finish - it doesn't need to be cosmetic perfection. Thanks!

Wasn't impressed

Boatyard recommended it, but although it's easy to apply the finish is not a patch on their one-pot Rubbed Effect stuff - a bit more effort but 3x the result.

Why not use Epifanes normal varnish thinned for a couple of build up coats and then topcoat with Rubbed Effect.
It is interior stuff and does not need masses of coats other than areas in direct sunlight (e.g. companionway).
Cheers,
Chris

I totally agree, the epifanes gloss will give good depth then just 1 coat of rubbed effect, this is the way I do it.

I favour the Rapidcoat with a semigloss finish. No sanding between coats and recoatable after 5 hours - you can get 3 coats on in a day. Also comes with a slight teak tint if you want to darken things down a bit.

I just thought that I would come back with a little bit of feedback, having now used Rapidclear... although it is easy to apply. the finish was disappointing, even though we weren't looking for perfection, and we have now applied a couple of coats of rubbed effect throughout the interior. I think that probably says it all!
