Posted a month or so back that our offer had been accepted. Since then we've had a successful sea trial and survey, snagging list for a 18 year old boat was pretty short with most items very easily rectified.

One very happy chappy!! Plymouth sound, last Sunday, an hour before when we left Yachthaven it was pissing down.

A few small jobs to be done under previous owners insurance, more of an excuse for me to antifoul using the tcm method. Always a bit nerve wracking seeing your pride and joy being lifted.

Well she's now ashore for the next two weeks. I know twin engines are easier to handle than a single but I was certainly sweating taking her to the hoist, only my second time handling her and all fairly close quarter manouevers. Still it all went smoothly. Lift was postponed from Tuesday, when the heavens opened to yesterday morning which as you can see was absolutely perfect.

Spent this afternoon pottering, wasn't sure if the aft holding tank was full or empty, soon found the answer when unscrewing the lid!!! Didn't know sewage formed it's own pressure! [--word removed--], won't be doing that again in a hurry.

The aft kingsized bed is more comfortable than our new bed at home!

And not used to the luxury of an ensuite with a superb shower

Now can't wait to get her back into the water and play some more!

Great looking boat. Congratulations. Are you going to keep her in Plymouth or will you be bringing her back to Exmouth in the spring ?? Ours is currently in Yachthaven, but was just up from you in Exmouth (past the lifeboat between Bull Hill and Shelly).
Have fun with your new toy !

Just a quip, But you do know the saying, Happiest Day is when you buy a boat, Next Happier Day is when You Sell Her,

Only Joking, she looks really nice, a PROPER LOOKING SHIP, Have heaps of fun with her. Best Wishes a Raggie.

It's a Defever isn't it!

Lovely looking boat, in fact I considered that one myself!

Real quality look and feel.

American made. I've been thinking of my next boat and am considering a Hatteras or Defever.

Loads of boat for the money and built like tanks!

Yep, she was in Sutton until last Sunday. Really like the marina there but the seagulls are a right pain!

And yes she is a DeFever 48, as you say built like a tank but with a quality that you don't often see elsewhere. I expect that it would now prove financially impossible to build a similar quality boat and sell it for a competetive price. Having said that we could have bought something new approaching the same size for what we paid. She really is like a virtually new boat, she's been so well looked after.

I'm over in Guys Quay and seagulls were a real pain, especially when I put the top covers on.

However, After being "briefed" by someone who has their boat over the other side in Sutton, I took the covers off the flybridge and hey presto the problem was (partly) solved. Apparently, the gulls like sitting on the dark covers as they absorb the heat and it keeps their bums warm!

The problem moved to my radar aerial then, as they found that a comfy perch!. Over the last couple of months I've covered the aerial with a couple of bin bags that rustle a bit in the wind. They also appear to put the gulls off from landing on aerial because they can't figure out whether the landing platform is solid or not! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Anyway.......it works very well....not too much crap to scrub off now! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

She's coming back to Exmouth in a few weeks time but we are on the waiting list for yachthaven, failing that she'll probably be out on my mooring on the exe for the summer.

Congratulations, ljs. For one moment there, I thought you'd bought yourself a Volkswagen. Are those active stabiliser thingies sticking out of it's bottom?
She's a proper little ship and very appropriate for a man of your advanced years.

Congratulations, she looks as superb as in the first pictures you posted.
The interior woodwork seems particularly impressive!
Don't forget to always ask the crane operators to be extremely careful when positioning the slings: pinching the fin stabs can make awful damages.
I even made some marks on my boat showing the exact fin positions, because it's sometimes difficult to see them, particularly in dirty water.

Congratulations!
Proper looking boat, hope you have many happy hours with her.
Big innit! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
