Take care when entering Lymington at low tide as there is a lot of weed around this time of year, plus the new ferries allegedly have a draft of 1m more than the old ones and may be contributing to the loose weed .
I speak from experience it tends to find itself blocking up the intakes......

sorry to hear about breaking down but the same problem happene to my brother 2 weeks ago in newtown as he was leaving same engines about 1/2 mile outside entrance after staying overnight alarms went off he got back to hamble and backflushed with high pressure hose and seems to be ok there was alot of weed in newtown so might not only be lymington but solent in general

I'm not sure that it is the ferries, The Solent is absolutely awash with weed at the moment, try anchring up to fish anywhere and the lines are covered with the stuff in minutes. We call it pink pube weed I'm sure there is a scientific name for it other than bloody nuisance....
