NOTICE TO MARINERS No 7 of 2018

INFORMATION

Training Exercise – River Crouch

Mariners are advised that a training exercise involving the Rochford Fire Brigade, RNLI and CHA will take place tomorrow Saturday 28th April 2018 at approximately 12:00 hours in the Burnham Fairway between Buoys No 11 and 13 in the vicinity of Essex Marina.

The mock incident will include the release of fake smoke and deployment of a floating (dummy) casualty.

An exclusion zone will be temporarily put in place for the duration of the exercise.

Vessels wishing to pass Essex Marina will only be permitted to do so at slow speed as directed by the CHA RIB to the North of Essex Marina Swinging Moorings.

The CHA RIB will be monitoring VHF Channels 11 and 16.

Why do this sort of thing on a weekend. Do it on Monday and there will be barely any activity on the river. If the sun comes out tomorrow, the Romford navy will be out in force and I am sure many of them will not be monitoring the VHF. Could keep the CHA RIB very busy!
 
Possibly because some of the volunteer folks whose input is valued, on exercises such as this,probably work during the week doing other jobs ?
