I've recently connected a Standard Horizon GX1500E to an Advansea C.56 Chart-plotter and I think the connection is OK because I get the satellite symbol on the radio. The not so great SH manual says this shows the radio is connected to the GPS.
The radio was already fitted to a recently bought boat, so I don't know it if was ever allocated an MMSI number or if the radio was previously connected up to a GPS. Searching for the boat shows that it has no MMSI number.
I don't get any GPS information on the radio display but I do get a display that is asking for MMSI Number.
My questions are:
1. Is the radio asking for an already entered MMSI number to be re-entered correctly?
2. Is the radio asking for a first time use MMSI number to be entered and this will be used as it's MMSI number?
3. Does the GX1500E not display GPS information until a valid and accepted MMSI number is entered?
Thanks in advance.
