Entering coordinates Garmin Echomap uhd2 75cv (not touch screen)

Recently purchased but as yet have not worked out how to enter coordinates. Manual says select waypoints/enter coordinates then enter coordinates but it does not say how to enter the coordinates, it is certainly not intuitive - or is it?

Thought I would try here before contacting Garmin

Why do you say it's not a touchscreen? Have you been wearing gloves trying to use it? Garmin spec says it's a touchscreen with keyed assist so could all be done via the screen. When you get to the waypoint screen, an on display keyboard should come up. Should be touch buttons on the display to navigate the menus. If not working then maybe the touchscreen is not working.

I have been to the boat today and am sure the unit is not touch screen. I think the newest versions of this unit are touch screen.

I was hoping posting on here would discover someone with the same unit.

I am sure there is a problem with this unit.

I am wanting to enter waypoints and entering from MENU.................

Select
Enter Coordinates
Select

This leads me to a screen which would seem to be correct although only some of the characters are highlighted and available to be used. In particular the numbers which would be used to enter coordinates are not illuminated/highlighted and are not available to be used.

I have emailed Marine Superstore and Garmin and await their reply.

May be context sensitive so expecting N or S as the first entry, hence numbers not selectable. E.g. N051.210 W001.230 as the entry.

Why don't you give Garmin a call - I've always found their support team very helpful.

I would think it should be touchscreen - are you sure it is not "locked"?

As I understand it these units also have "key assist " buttons for use in poor weather conditions i.e bright sunlight or rain, to the right of the screen
