hi
having got my ATIS number which is adding a 9 to the front of my MMSI number, making 10 didgets in all, but the radio will only allow 9 didgets, contacted raymarine about the problem, the email response was (The first digit is already pre entered in the unit, you just need to enter the last 9 digits) but its the first didget that needs to be a 9? am i missiong something.

Do you mean a 240e radio? If so, Raymarine told us we would have to have a visit from their engineer to set up ATIS. Have you had that visit? If not, there may be some confusion between ATIS and MMSI numbers.

Rather strangely, at the beginning of the season, I powered up my 240E and it got confused: a load of extra (dealer) menus appeared, so I enabled ATIS sharpish before turning it off again.

Now I have the option to enter an ATIS number /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

(will need a dealer handset to turn it off again, unless I can pull off the same trick in reverse)

If your (9-digit) MMSI is 232######, then your (10-digit) ATIS number is 9232######

But all ATIS numbers begin with 9, so Raymarine have saved you the trouble of keying it in: just key in the 232###### -- pressing "menu" after each digit and "menu" twice at the end -- just as you did for the MMSI number. But don't press menu twice unless you're sure it's right, because you only get one go at it!

If you've got a 240E radio, then the instructions for entering the ATIS number are on page 54 of the users manual -- in Raymarine's usual cryptic pictograms and with the obligatory piece of vital information missing. Briefly:
(1)Press <menu> to get into the main menu, and use the channel key to scroll down to "settings"
(2) Press <menu> to get into the settings menu, and use the channel key to scroll down to "ATIS"
(3) Press <menu> to get into the ATIS menu: it should say "ATIS undefined"
(4) Press <menu> followed by the second digit of your 10-digit ATIS number (the one immediately after the leading 9 !)
(5) Press <menu> followed by the next number
(6) Repeat step five till you get to the end
(7) Press <menu> twice.

I think I've got this right. If not, please accept my apologies, and bear in mind that I don't get paid to write Raymarine manuals -- unlike whoever did!
