We have a gas oven in our galley which we've never used since we bought the boat 2 years ago but with all that's going on we may be dining on board more often this year. Neither of us has any experience of using a gas oven so we're looking for a bit of help. Would anyone have an English manual or instruction booklet which they'd be prepared to share? The oven is made by Eno and the model number I found on a small French language technical sheet on board is 8430.7. All help greatly appreciated.

Not got that particular model but if it’s anything like ours (which is part of the gimballed cooker), it’ll be a pretty simple thing. There’s no thermostat, so you turn it on, hold in the control know, light the gas (either electronic clicker or by using a lighter through the hole in the centre front of the bottom panel), hold knob in to let the flame failure device work and that’s it. It’ll get hot enough to roast meat, bake cakes, cookies and bread or make pizza. But if there’s anything that needs fine control forget it.
All our manuals are on the boat, so can’t help beyond the above!

We have one and it’s just like that - we only really started using it properly when I bought a cheapo clip on oven thermometer from ebay.

We have the Grand Large which is wider than most boat cookers so a bigger oven. As the above comments you need an oven thermometer as there's no thermostat but with a little practice you learn to control the temperature and it works quite well. We do roast dinners, make bread, cakes, pizza etc. Biggest success so far was a Christmas Cake and later a full Christmas dinner for 8.
Oven is better insulated than most boat ovens which allows it to get to quite high temperatures when needed and be reasonably controllable

Perhaps worth adding that mine has oven and grill. Turn and press nob clockwise for one and anti-clockwise for the other. Not a problem unless the inscriptions have worn away and the igniter has failed (both common), if so, Sod’s law says that if using a hand lighter, you’ll be holding it against the wrong device ☹️

Not sure of the model of mine and, of course, the manual is on the boat ?

My manuals are also on the boat. We had the 2 burner Gascogne and swapped it for the 3 burner version. I don't think that there are many differences apart from the extra burner. I only remember seeing one other common model and that was all stainless on the exterior and didn't have a wooden door handle. I don't think the instructions would be any different.

I have some documents on my website and they might be of some use.

Only a few minor points:
  1. Get a thermometer to hang inside the oven as already mentioned. It is much better than just turning it on and hoping.
  2. Remove the battery at the end of each season. We caught a leaky battery in time but a friend did not.
  3. Check regulator if the oven takes ages to heat up. Ours failed and wouldn't cook a pizza properly. A new regulator sorted it out.
The number you quote doesn't ring any bells but may well be on our cooker.

I'm afraid that it will probably be 2021 before I can scan our printed manuals as they are in Greece. :D
And we are not.

Thanks. Much appreciated. Mine is probably an older model from when the boat was built in 2003. It's a built in type, no grill and no ignition. The 3 ring hob is in a separate area of the galley. I've ordered a thermostat as you suggest and having had a look at the oven today I think we'll figure it out OK. Thanks again to all who replied.
