Hi All,
Its the trusty owner of the Freeman 30 again.. Firstly thanks for all the info that people have given me. Its been very usefull.
Ive stumbled upon a few problems which i would be greatful of some advice on.
Firstly, whilst investigating the strange stalling engine, i checked the water separators and one of the retaining brackets had rusted and on removal snapped.
Does anyone know where i can get parts for old water separators?
Secondly, she has a wooden superstructure with a wooden deck.. At the bow, on the deck section, the ply has gone very grany and it appears some water has got into the ply since there are very dark patches. Does anyone have any advice on sorting this? Ive just rubbed it down a bit and applied a coat of varnish but i've been advised by a chippy mate to strip the varnish off again and let the air get to the ply for a couple of days to try and let the moisture out.. Any other ideas? any treatment that can be applied..
And lastly for those who remember the problems i was having with the engine that stalled after about an hour and then had problems restarting, ive checked the fuel and the water separator.. No water.. and no foaming stuff, so the diesel seems fine.. These new engines eh??
Anyway, as usual, any advice is much appreciated..
cheers,
Nick
