Evening all,

Following on from the outboard thread, but not wanting hijack it. I managed to break a stud in an outboard water pump housing this week and need someone to remove it. Can anyone recommend anyone in the Maldon area please? Doesn't have to be marine, just someone with the tools and expertise to do a good job.

Thanks.

Simon Dunn is in Southminster - nor far away. He may well be able to help but give him a call. He's usually up to his eyes but I'd ask if he could do it and then say could you book it in to be done while you wait - you might get lucky. After all it's a ten minute job with the right tools......... http://www.enginesdunn.co.uk/

Otherwise for small jobs I've found Duerr Engineering in Burnham really helpful. They did a welding job for me and also fitted a diesel return input to an old stuart turner tank. Foundry Lane Burnham-On-Crouch Essex CM0 8SH Tel: 01621 782726. I think they see small jobs for yachties as apprentice pieces and good PR for their beta engine dealership.

I did that last year - SS bolt in ali casing. I was warned here that it happen and it did. I bought a small cobalt drill bit and drill slowly with lubrication I managed to drill down until the remains came out and didn't damage the thread. Not difficult but needs a straight eye and steady hand. Althorne Marine at Fambridge would do it 079739100822.
