I am acting as a go between on this request. I have a friend who has a 70's Swan 431 based in Rochefort with a seized Perkins engine. (I think it is a Perkins 4108) The engine had a new bottom end about 6 years ago before being sailed back from Hawaii and the US. The engine was working perfectly at the end of last season but the owner on returning to the boat last weekend for a quick visit found the engine had seized and would not turn over. Unfortunately time and business has meant he had to immediately return to the UK. He is up against a window of end of June to fix this as he has promised a weeks sail to a couple in a 'Promise Auction' for charity.
There is a Perkins dealer in La Rochelle who did some work on the engine in La Rochelle but that was when the boat was sailed in La Rochelle. This person requires someone to either see if they can fix the issue without the Perkins dealer or if unable to fix then to liaise with the Perkins dealer and show them the boat/engine and make sure all goes well. I am therefore looking for such a person who may be able to take on this project or know of someone who could. Obviously the person would be paid.
