Engine Surveyor Plymouth area

Does anyone on the forum know or can recommend an engine surveyor in the Plymouth area? It is for a 3 cylinder yacht engine. Anyone know an approx. cost too?

I think the nearest dealer is quite a way from Plymouth. Is it more common to have engine surveys on power boats? If so, I wonder who they use?

You will best use a dealer who knows that engine.

I recently used SMS in Plymouth on a Volvo and had a very sensible report and great service.

I bought the boat and had them service the engine.

I can't recommend them enough. They were great at every stage of the process.

The nearest surveyor might be some way away too! Engine dealers know particular engines inside out; know what faults to look for; know how to assess general condition; can easily do compression checks, etc.

In my experience those who call themselves Yacht Surveryors don't like to touch engines. The most I got during my last survey was a comment on the rust on the engine. You really need an engineer who knows the particular type of engine and has the facilities to test it.
