Engine Stop cable brackets and clips

Thanks for these. Dropbox and Norris marine are especially useful. When I was searching I found plenty of stop cables but very little in the way of secure fasteners. I wanted to avoid bodging so thanks for these 2 recommendation. Stu

What sort of clips and brackets are you looking for ? These parts are often specific to there application. It is possible to make your own, if you know what you are doing.

I found the 'U' clamp dimpled cable locking bracket locally, which was a relief. Now I need a bracket that will screw onto the pump end of the (solid core) stop cable. This bracket needs a 90 degree 1/4 pin to go through the lever on the pump. It needs to be pretty robust as the lever it attaches to basically has 3 positions - Cold start position, running and stop. The movement of the cable and action on the lever needs to be positive between both directions to achieve the 2 extreme positions. Only other thing is that as this is an old boat - 1951 vintage - the threads are unlikely to be metric.

Is there a thread on the end of the cable ? Either 3/16"unf or 1/4"unf . If so these are standard 33c and 43c cables and lots of ends are available.

Really handy to know that the threads used on the modern cables are UNF. I expected them all to be metric. Knowing that does make it easier to identify a usable terminal connection. Thanks!
