Have just had my engines repainted after some serious neglect by the previous owner.

Happy with the paintjob, but wondering if there is something I can coat/prepare the engines with to give that bit better rust protection.

I was thinking something like that waxy car underseal stuff...thing is it smells quite a lot when it warms up...

Also something that can be sprayed to get in all the nooks and crannies would be good.

Or is an annual coat of WD40 okay?

Now that stuff looks interestring - do ytou know if it is available in the UK ? (It isnt obvious on the website) - Thanks.

No experience or knowledge of the Corrblock stuff, but IMHO WD-40 disperses water for a short while and you can use it for just that, but it does nothing for you long-term. Car-body stuff like Wayoyl and Dinitrol are messy products, and can actually trap water and hide corrosion in progress, but is OK if applied on a well prepared surface.
Easiest and best looking nearly invisible solution is RANGOON OIL. This is a drying oil used for gun barrels; get it in 100 ml tins in your local gun shop.
Similarly, thinly applied Owatrol is very effective, and is also useful as a paint thinner.

Another vote of confidence in ACF50 and Corrosion-Bloc; very effective stuff.
But WD40 on engines is NOT a good idea in my experience: it did what it says it does, penetrates and lubricates, with the result that nuts and bolts that had stayed tight no longer did! ... and led to a near-disaster when my engine gear-shift controls came apart (among other items) as a result of spraying with WD40 as a 'recommended' winter protection.
An advantage of a forum is access to a few genuine experts whose professional qualifications and long experience entitles then to make recommendations. One of the big disadvantages is that it is open to enthusiastic amateurs, sometimes uninhibited bodgers, whose confident advice should be treated with some suspicion; especially if their 'bio' is irrelevant, or even blank!
I reckon we should exchange our experiences, and evaluate each others experience in relation to our own understanding (or lack of it) but we have to take full responsibility for our own decisions!
