Hi

A while ago I posted about an oil leak in my engine and received some helpful replies - thanks.

I have now found what I hope to be the cause which is a small hole in the inspection cover plate. The oil was forced out when the engine ran and seeped down some flaking paintwork. There are two of these bolted to the crankcase on the opposite side to the air filters and unfortunately there are no longer in stock at the four main dealers I have tried. Can anyone recommend someone who hoards old parts or is anyone scrapping one of these engines. Thanks a lot

Can't you get it repaired. I thought they were stainless steel so its rather surprising that one has a hole in it, but it should be possible for a welder to patch it up. Take care with the fixings though. I believe there's not a lot of metal around some of the bolt holes in the crank case casting.
