I have some rust appearing beneath the thermostat housing on a Volvo penta 2001 engine. It was just oozing a tiny bit. I've changed the gasket so now dry. There is some surface rust.
My plan is to wipe down with a damp cloth to remove salt residue, dry, apply a rust converter like ferton, And paint.
Anything else I should do. How best to prepare the surface? Do I need to prime it first?
