I have a volvo 2003, 28hp engine and fitted a kiwi feathering propeller last year. It works fine going forward but in astern the engine sometimes will not accelerate beyond tickover- the throttle lever on the engine is moving properly, the blades are full pitch in astern. The only way to guarantee revs astern is to keep the tickover very high - any idea's anyone please ???

The reverse mech jams the blades flat so they act like a paddle steamer, and your engine cant overcome that.
You will need to remove the prop and disassemble it to clean the wee beasties out, and regrease to put it back in.
Ring Alan Pollard at Kiwiprop, he may do an exchange or offer further advice.
hjis happens about 2/3rds of thw way through our high fouling season dammit.

Thanks for that full circle, as the blades are meant to be at full pitch in astern anyway, wouldn't any fouling mean the blades dont quite go to full open - therefore easier for the engine to overcome the resistance and accelerate ? I'll ring Kiwiprop anyway thanks.
