I have a Yanmar engine in need of new rubber mounts. The Yanmar mounts are twice the cost of Vetus mounts. Any reason why I should not use the Vetus mounts?

Well you may have to drill new holes in the engine bearers and/or raise the new mounts, unless the Vetus mounts are exact copies of the Yanmar ones. In fact I have two mounts in the basement (although I can't remember the make!). Didn't use them 'cos an Italian engineer produced cheaper copies of Yanmar mounts although still about £100 each!! Told me to paint them well b4 fitting. The original Yanmar mounts lasted 17yrs b4 rusting away but I should have replaced them several years ago. PM me if you want them, I'm leaving for the boat on Thurs.

Which engine - I have a set of Yanmar mounts that I bought to replace my old ones. Unfortunately my original mounts weren't Yanmar and the new ones could not be made to fit without serious modification to the beds. PM me if this spare set may help.

My engine is a 3HM35. All 4 mounts are identical. I have replaced them all once before but at £70 each I dont want to have to do it again. They havent lasted very long.

It could be worth getting a quote for Yanmar parts but from a French supplier. If nothig else, this could draw attention to the higher markup typically charged in the UK.
