I have a new Suzuki 175hp leanburn with the electronic dials. I have looked through the manual and tried every setting in the dials but can't get the engine hours. I know historically the revs when you first turn the key showed you but as the first service is at '20 hours!' I assume there must be a more accurate way to tell?

when I had a Df90..... a few years ago now from memory for boats that don't have an hour meter on the rev counter, the indication of the hours was done by the first 3 seconds when ignition switched on, the rev counter will show the hours (before starting engine). again from memory per 100rpm indicated every 10hrs run, so if rev counter goes 200rpm that's your first 20 hrs, 500 rpm 50 hrs, 600rpm 60hrs etc etc, then when in time it gets over 500 hours, it's a combination of a light flashing, can't remember which and the rev counter but by that time hopefully you will have got a user manual for the engine which does detail it all..

I do, two of them. They show every possible bit of info except the engine hours, seems strange and sure I'm doing something wrong.

I've now got the manuals and can't see anything about engine hours! I will perhaps have to revisit the dealer.
