New sort of problem with EHM. Yanmar LCD in B20 panel. Not the usual "it's blank", but has reset itself such that the decimal place has moved left-i.e it now reads 1/10th of the lifetime total and the figure to the right of the decimal changes hourly instead of ever 6 minutes.
Any ideas?

Has it not simply run out of digits (i.e., hit 99999 or whatever) and switched to a less precise format of record? I have seen many digital meters/timers that do this.

No, it's reading 129.7 instead of the true figure of 1297.x Nothing in the calibration manual to suggest that the decimal piont can be moved.

This might sound daft, but seriously, it isnt.
Take it out of the panel, tip it over so decimal digits are lowest and tap it on a hard surface gently mind. This might nudge the decimal point back where it came from. If that dosent work try tipping it over the other way.
OK, I said it would sound daft, but.... many LCD displays have a row of pads that line up with the respective pads on the main circuit board. Between them is a strip with conductive elements arranged like the teeth of a comb. No pins or holes for the pins to go in.If the display shifts sideways just a tiny bit the connections can be dislodged.
If you fancy opening it up then you may find a hard wired decimal point wire that has slipped too.

If all else fails and the digits are right, but simply a misplaced decimal point then Tipex and a felt tip pen will fix it.
