Engine hoses

Does anyone know why Engines have rubber hoses that have the ability to wear through, when they could be piped up with solid pipe.
Besides expense and consumerism
Vibration maybe having something to do with it etc.
But fuel lines are piped with steel pipes. So vibration would be just the same with them.
So whats to stop me using heavy walled copper or bronze pipe brazed with flanges on the end or some sort of alloy
Atleast you wont have the issues of a hose blowing off

how often do hoses blow on your car.
you are fitting a new engine are you not, therefore fit new hoses

You may have failed to notice that your engine moves on its rubber mountings :). Solid pipes would fail in fatigue within a short time, in addition to transmitting considerable noise to your hull. Fuel pipes may be metal for much of their length but there should always be a flexible section between the engine and pipes.

How often have your hoses worn through? I once experienced one that fractured because the original installer had not supported it adequately but that's the only one in nearly 25 years.

Yeah i am fitting new hoses but i was just thinking thats all.
I was noticing the Nanni has rubber piping down the fresh water tank side.
I was just wondering why they arent non rubber type thats all.

thanks i understand the vibration etc but i was just wondering

change them & void the very very limited silverline warranty.

I am hoping its a better move than reconditioning the 4107....
Its a lovely looking engine though.
I dont know where im going to mount the oil reservoir yet and
The hydraulic pod that bolts onto the shaft must weigh 30kgs which is going to require some sort of bracket im yet to design to brace that in place

were you not able to have a PRM box

I have a Vee drive, There was an 8 wk delay on the new vee drive. They were more expensive etc,
So i went hydraulic propulsion instead to try it out,
If the worse case scenario is i sell the hydraulic drive and reinstall a new vee drive etc.
It may be extra expense,
but i got no issues with hydraulics if the hoses are quality and high pressure type, and the oil is kept clean nothing can go wrong with them.
So if it works ill be happy with it.
