Engine hatch seal, which type?

Planning to replace my tired engine hatch seal, but not sure which type is best...

or
Vinyl foam sold by many chandlers etc e.g https://www.marinesuperstore.com/maintenance-equipment/tapes/psp-vinyl-foam-tape

Which is best or are they the same thing.

Neoprene for me as it is more durable and more expensive initially, but in the longer term it generally works out cheaper through longevity.
